大学の学部での専門が世界遺産と直接関係ないのですが、受験できますか?

できます。実際に専攻に所属する大学院生の大学時代の専門はバラエティに富んでおり、たとえば、生物学、体育学、考古学、美学、歴史学、語学、政治学など様々なバックグラウンドをもった学生が集まっています。
Yes, you can. The graduate students in the World Heritage Studies program come from various academic backgrounds, such as Biology, Athletics, Archaeology, Aesthetics, History, Linguistics, Political Science, etc.

できます。実際に専攻に所属する学生にも多くの社会人経験者がいます。
Yes, you can. Several graduate students in the World Heritage Studies program have work experience.

できます。本専攻は様々な文化や自然遺産の保存や活用の専門家育成を目指しています。ですので、地方自治体で文化財行政に携わっていた方を始めとして、メーカー、旅行会社、博物館などで仕事をされている多くの方が所属しています。
Yes, you can. In the World Heritage Studies program, we are aiming to train specialists in various areas of cultural and natural heritage preservation and practice. Many students in the World Heritage Studies program have work experience from regional administration, travel agencies, museums, etc.

受験にはどんな準備が必要ですか?
How should I prepare for the entrance exam?
A.

世界遺産や文化財関連の話題について日頃から意識しておくこと、自分なりの意見を持つこと、それから、願書と共に提出する「研究計画書」はしっかりと書くことをお勧めします。面接でも、世界遺産専攻で自分が何をやりたいかということを明確に話せるように準備しておくことが望まれます。
You should take notice about matters relating to world heritage and cultural heritage in your daily life, and form your own opinions and thoughts. Also, when submitting your application papers, you should make sure to include a well-prepared research plan. For the interview, we recommend that you prepare yourself well; you should be able to talk about (in detail) what you want to focus on and what you want to make of your studies in the World Heritage Studies program.

語学力はどの程度必要ですか?
What are the requirements regarding language proficiency?
A.

本専攻は国際的な舞台で活躍する専門家のみを育成しようとするものではありません。しかしながら、国外の先進的な事例が国内の課題を解決する上で有効な場合も少なくありません。受験科目は英語と論述(日本語または英語)、そして面接です。普段から世界遺産や文化財についてのトピックについて自分なりの意見を持ち、それを英語または日本語で表現できるように努力することを心がけてください。
At the World Heritage Studies program, we do not only seek to train specialists for the international field. That being said, the international perspective is critical. The entrance exam consists of a written exam focusing on English proficiency and academic reasoning (in English or Japanese), and an interview. We would like to see you form your own opinions and thoughts about matters relating to world heritage and cultural heritage, drawing experience from examples from everyday life, and make an effort to express your thoughts in English or Japanese.

卒業に必要な単位数を教えてください。
How many credits do I need to graduate?
A.

30単位です。 内訳は共通必修(11単位),共通選択必修(4単位以上),希望する分野から8単位程度を含み、他研究科や他専攻の科目(自然保護サーティフィケートプログラムの科目を含む)と学群の科目は10単位を上限に選択することが可能です。
You need 30 credits to graduate. Compulsory courses (11 credits), major-specific elective courses (at least 4 credits), and general elective courses (up to 10 credits) (including courses from other fields and the Nature conservation certificate program).

入学後の住居は?
Are there student accommodations?
A.

学内の寮(追越、一の矢等)に入居する人もいれば、学外のアパートやマンションに入る人もいます。寮は抽選制です。入寮についての案内は合格通知に同封されます。また、都内から通う学生も少なくありません。
Some students live in halls of residence/dormitories on campus, and some students live in regular apartments. The dormitories are assigned by lottery. Information about how to obtain a room at a dormitory is enclosed with your admission notice.

インターンシップとはどのようなものですか?
What is the internship system?
A.

夏休み等を利用して学外の文化遺産関係機関等の受け入れ先(国際、国内)で実務に従事して研修をする制度です。専攻と関連する企業や研究所を紹介することもありますし、自分でインターンシップ先は探すことも可能です。
It is a system in which our students do job practice and training at an organization/company/institution (in Japan or abroad) within the field of cultural heritage during the summer vacation, to gain practical work experience.

専攻の大学院生になったら、国内外の遺産を大学の費用で見学することができますか?
If I become a graduate student in the World Heritage Studies program, can I go on field trips funded by the University?

教員とともに調査に行き、教員のアシスタントをしつつ自身の研究テーマに取り組む学生は多くいます。
Many of our students accompany and assist the teaching staff on investigations/field trips, while also using that time to grapple with their research topics.

専攻の大学院生になったら、UNESCO等の国際機関に就職できますか?
If I become a graduate student in the World Heritage Studies program, can I get a job at UNESCO or similar?

就職は個人の努力と能力に依ります。学業期間中にインターンシップや留学制度を利用して海外での活動に積極的に参加し、自身の専門性を高めていくことが重要です。世界遺産専攻という立場とネットワークを最大限に活かして、大きな舞台で活躍する人材を目指してください。
Getting the job you want is up to you and depends on your skills and your willingness to work hard. It is essential to make use of the internship and overseas student exchange systems, and engage actively in your undertakings abroad, and hone your skills and expertise. Make full use of your position as a graduate student of the World Heritage Studies program and the network that comes with it, and aim for a significant role on the international heritage scene.

社会人での仕事を継続しつつ入学することは可能ですか?
Can I continue to work professionally while studying?
A.

大学の教室での受講が必要である科目や論文指導等がありますが,テレビ授業等を利用して,仕事を継続しつつも,限られた登校日数で過程を修了し卒業することが可能です。詳しくは,自身の研究テーマを検討の上,関連する分野の教員にお問い合わせください。
Attendance is mandatory in some parts of the course work, but by using video classes and similar, it is possible to get the required attendance and to graduate while still working. For details, please contact a faculty member (first decide what field you want to engage in for your research topic, and get in contact with one of our teachers engaged in that same field).
