「世界遺産条約と世界遺産学の展開と展望」
開催趣旨
筑波大学世界遺産学専攻は2004年に開設されて今年で20年目を迎えました。これまでに、修士論文約300件、博士論文50件弱が受理されており、多岐にわたる文化遺産や自然遺産に関連した研究が蓄積されてきました。2022年には、世界遺産条約の発足から50年の節目を迎え、また日本が同条約に批准してから30年となり、世界遺産と取り巻く状況も変化してきました。本学における世界遺産学もまた、社会・経済の実情と要求にもとづき刻々と変化してきたと考えられます。遺産そのものの裾野が広がり、複合化し、社会的な活動と接続して政治・経済的な側面からも遺産が果たすべき役割と期待はより大きなものになってきました。こうした中で、本学の世界遺産学はどのように展開してきたのか、そして多分野、多領域で活躍する修了生と連携してどのような将来的な展望を描いていくことができるか、この機会に現役の学生、教員とできるだけ多くの修了生を交えて考えたいと思います。

“Progress and Future Prospects of the World Heritage Convention and Heritage Studies”
Focus of the Symposium
The Heritage Studies Program at the University of Tsukuba was established in 2004 and marks its 20th year this year. Approximately 300 master’s theses and nearly 50 doctoral dissertations have been accepted, accumulating research on a wide range of cultural and natural heritage. In 2022, we celebrated the 50th anniversary of the World Heritage Convention and 30 years since Japan ratified the convention. The circumstances surrounding World Heritage have changed significantly during this time. Heritage Studies at our university have also evolved, reflecting the changing social and economic realities and demands. The sphere of heritage has expanded, becoming more complex, and its role and expectations in political and economic contexts have grown as it increasingly connects with social activities.
In this context, we would like to take this opportunity to reflect on how World Heritage Studies at our university have progressed, in collaboration with alumni working in various fields and students, and consider what prospects we can envision. We hope to engage current students, faculty, and as many alumni as possible in this opportunity.
