The Heritage Studies Program has signed a partnership agreement with the Rice Terraces Preservation Committee in Kouzu District of Nanto City, Toyama Prefecture. Kouzu, located in the Gokayama (the former Kamitaira village), is within a World Heritage buffer zone. As part of the “Seminar on Cultural Heritage” course, students have engaged with local community members for over ten years through activities like stone wall construction and traditional vegetable harvesting. This agreement aims to foster collaboration between graduate students and the Kouzu community on various challenges.
